March was an big month for CoPower, and as we progress towards our Canada-wide launch, we wanted to share a few updates with you:
1) Report from GLOBE 2014
David Berliner of CoPower was invited to the international GLOBE business and environment conference in Vancouver last month to participate in a panel discussion
on "Evolution or Revolution: Innovation in Sustainable Finance." Read some of his thoughts from this event on GLOBE's website
2) ZERO 2014
CoPower will be joining a panel discussion
at the upcoming ZERO 2014 conference, taking place in Edmonton, April 15-17. The panel will examine the innovation needed to accelerate a low-carbon, sustainable economy, and Raphael Bouskila of CoPower will be delivering remarks on the topic of financial innovations: crowd-investing, securitized solar and zero-money-down energy efficiency. 3) C2-MTL 2014
CoPower is thrilled to announce that we've been selected as one of the top emerging companies in Montreal by the Claudine and Stephen Bronfman Family Foundation, and have been invited to participate in the upcoming C2-MTL conference
this May 27-29. This event, focused on "commerce + creativity", brings thought leaders from across the globe to Montreal: this year's lineup features filmmaker and philanthropist James Cameron, Nobel Prize-winning micro-financier Prof. Muhammad Yunus, and renowned shoe designer Christian Louboutin, among a host of other luminaries.
5) SDEVM Financing
We're delighted to announce that we've been selected by the Société de développement économique Ville-Marie (SDEVM) for the maximum award available under their Young Promoters program. The SDEVM is a fantastic organization that supports entrepreneurship in the downtown Montreal area. Check out the press release on their website
6) Clean energy market reports
Analytica Advisors has released their highly-anticipated annual report on the Canadian cleantech sector. Check out the news release
, featuring key metrics on clean energy across the country. Globally, Pew Research reports
that the clean energy market reached $254 billion worldwide, led by the US and China.
7) Crowdfunding news and views
The big news this month was the joint announcements by Canadian securities commissions of proposed exemptions for equity platforms. Raphael Bouskila, as representative of CoPower, is participating in the ongoing comment period as a founding member of the Equity Crowdfunding Alliance of Canada, and co-chair of its Crowdfunding Platforms committee.
